Who lived in this house? What were their dreams? What happened to them?

Toad River Campground

We set up here at  three in the afternoon but discover there is no Internet. A fire that morning had burnt down a four room cabin that also contained all things necessary for Internet service. It also sat next to a very LARGE propane tank. There is no fire department. Everyone around the lake that saw the smoke and/or flames came over and they put the fire out without damaging other buildings. Or the propane tank which I'm sure looked larger to me after hearing the story. Three pumps were dropped in the Toad River to supply water to the fire. They also lost water service to the sites with a view. Fortunately, we had filled our water tank at our last stop so were able to enjoy a beautiful view.

This is also where we lost Judy & Maryann. Supposed to meet them in Fort Nelson but we just couldn't go on any further. And, as I said, no Internet available. We parked the car near the highway hoping they would see it. They didn't. Our phones are not on when out of the U.S. except to occasionally check for any emergency messages when we have a connection. Imagine our surprise, on the way to Prince George,  when we found a message, left about an hour earlierby the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Dawson City. We thought the Mounties were after us again - a whole other long story - but found we are missing persons. Judy & Maryann had been concerned because they hadn't seen or heard from us in two days. We called the Mounties and Judy to straighten everything out. Really makes us appreciate friends. If it ever happens again we will try to be better friends by calling even tho' it breaks the bank. As it was, cost us two phone calls instead of one but, more importantly, caused a good friends some stress that could have so easily been avoided. Judy says we owe her a dinner!
We all camped outside Prince George last night. Judy & Maryann  moved on the next morning  but we stayed another day to do laundry and relax. They need to be home sooner than we do. Or, as we suspect, Judy's anxious to see her first Great-grandchild, a boy born last week. His name is Veddar.

So, back to the fire,

and more bears. This time it got a little exciting. Don's telling me to take pictures, "I've got my finger on the button to
put the window up if needed".

Further down the road we saw a bigger one.
